The new girls under 8's squad, managed and coached by both Sophie and Mark Dugan have started building a really strong bond, after only being together for around a month.
The way the girls are prepared to listen and engage within the training sessions is testament to the hard work that is being put in by both of the coaches.
The girls have recently just taken part in their first ever matches together as a team during two (non competitive) tournaments.
The first at Thatcham and Newbury Ladies FC, where they played 6 games in total and didn't look out of place at all. in fact playing as though they have been together for a lot longer than a month!
Each girl played with a smile and had a fantastic day and all walked away being presented with a medal.
The second tournament was held at Hythe and Dibden FC, playing 5 games in total. The girls came up against some really strong opposition including the current AFC Portchester under 9's that have been together for a while.
But again it didn't show as the girls dug deep and played as a team and for each other and received a lot of praise from not only other coaches and parents but the days referee, stating how good they all were and that they will be something to watch in the future.
They all deserved the medals they took home, and looking at both of the days performances we have seen a bunch of girls that given time will really shine and do great things.
They have all bonded so quickly as a team being around each other, listening to everything that is being taught but most of all really enjoying playing football with a smile.
The future is definitely bright for AFC Portchester Girls.
